Consumers are the Agency's Customer's client, they are often required in appointments to help the interpreter refer to the correct appointment when they have arrived to the job site.
Some agencies need data for the consumer to be available across many appointments, we'll call this a persistent consumer. Only agency users can access data for persistent consumers keeping it organized and to simplify its confidentiality.
When persistent customers is activated from the 'Consumers' switch in Settings => General Settings two major areas appear. One area is a 'Consumers' tab added to the main menu, this is were the agency can create new persistant consumers. The second area is a 'Consumer' tab added to the appointments. Both areas allow you to select consumers and modify information stored for the consumer. When creating a consumer you'll be asked to enter an identifier, this could just be the consumers name but you may need to include a DOB should two consumers have the same name.
Custom fields can be created for consumers to allow the agency to organize the data stored. Notes specific to the consumer can also be used to retain information about the consumer. If an interpreter isn't a good match for the consumer you can block specific interpreters. Blocked interpreters won't be shown on the appointment. Please be sure to select the consumer before appointing the interpreter else you may end up bypassing the list of blocked interpreters for the consumer.
The average agency will only need to store consumer information for a particular appointment. Agencies managing data for persistent consumers will still use the per appointment consumer data to collect information from the requester to reference the right persistent consumer.
